Up Up and Away
Posted August 9th, 2009 by ashleytrebLife has changed for us YET again!
Cayden started crawling on July 22nd. It was such a wonderful/proud day for us! Little did we know it was the beginning to a whole other life style.
Morning starts out with making sure every door is shut. Vacuuming has become an everyday or twice a day thing. Nothing is safe anymore every cord must be unplugged because if its not he finds it and wants to chew on it! Our beautiful little white dog is now shaved down to her nickers because her hair has become a choking hazard. Everything from the DVD player to the x box is now a toy he can pull off of the entertainment center. With in one week he went from a little worm that was scooting to a little boy crawling up the jail cell of his crib and onto the coffee table to grab any and everything within reach.
Daddy works from home but anytime the office door opens a fire lights in Cayden’s eyes and off he goes like a race horse. It becomes a fit if Daddy doesn’t stop and hug him or allow him into the office to play with the guitars or keyboard and mouse. The doggy door has kept him busy for hours. Watching it flip back and forth. When Anberlyn (our dog) decides to play with her toys or chew on her rawhide it’s funny watching the dog move from spot to spot just hoping he wont follow her and attempt to either grab her hair or help chew on her toy.
Today while loading the dishwasher he actually managed to get one leg on top of the door without me noticing. Unloading the groceries is also a fun task because it is almost impossible to keep him from climbing into the vegetable drawer or into the pantry. I have caught him licking the kitchen floor and eating the remote. I used to have glade plug ins and my house would smell like “fresh linen” or “rain forest” now the diaper genie no longer masks the smell of carrot poop and potty diapers it has been grounded to the garage for not doing its job correctly!
Cayden loves being outside to the point of spending a lot of his day going to and from the living room to the front door where he repeatedly hits the door reciting his favorite word “dah”. Speaking of words he has made a distinct difference between the word “dah” and “dog”. If I haven’t mentioned it before Cayden is completely fascinated with Anberlyn, well any dog that he can come in contact with. I am sure he is going to love animals. We started saying “dog” and pointing at Anberlyn, Van (Grandpa Dan’s dog), Maggi (Uncle Phil’s dog), and Zack and Duke (Grandpa Mike’s dog) about a month ago. Last week he started saying “dog” its so cute seeing him get so excited. He also is clapping and playing patty cake with me.
He is growing way to fast. While I put him to sleep I often stare at his beautiful face and think to myself how much longer will I be able carry you in my arms? How much longer will you allow me to kiss and pinch your chubby cheeks? It goes by to fast but I guess I need to focus on the beautiful growth and excitement to come and not the stuff I will desperately miss. Cayden is such a handful yet so much fun. Its funny how much trouble he is already getting into. I cant help but think of how blessed I am to have a wonderful husband who helps me keep track of him. I couldn’t imagine being a single mom, how they manage to get anything done is beyond me! God continues to be amazing to us and I am in awe of how much he has given and continues to bless us with. I look forward to talking to Cayden about Jesus. Telling him all the stories my Nana always told me. She reminded me the other day of some of the songs her and I would sing like “The Fruit of the Spirit” and “This Little Light of Mine” and it made me so happy to think of all the wonderful things Brandon and I will be able to teach him soon. Its been wonderful having time to write this blog and know that people love reading it and keeping up on my little angel’s life and new accomplishments. Thank you all for reading we love you and miss you!
Living in His grace,
